Q: What Is Kripalu Yoga?
Kripalu Yoga is a non-dogmatic, inquiry based system of health and vitality. You can read the misson statement here.
Q: What will Kripalu Yoga Do for me?
I don't really know. I could guess...but that would take the fun out of the inquiry based approach! The idea with yoga is to ask yourself questions. Why does my back hurt? Why am I always tired? What would it feel like to have more energy? Why can't I sleep at night? Why am I miserable? How can I experience joy and happiness and love? These are just examples. You can pick any questions that you want to investigate. Yoga is the search for truth.
One of the many things I love about the Kripalu tradition is the emphasis on it being a non-dogmatic, inquiry based approach.
Q: If I'm not very (flexible, strong, focused, relaxed etc) can I still do yoga?
Absolutely! Yoga is not just about stretching, bending and twisting. The beauty of a Kripalu yoga class is that it allows people of various fitness levels to participate in a way that is reasonable and beneficial for them. Also, Yoga isn't about the end result. Just because you can't do a certain pose doesn't matter in the least bit. Work together with your yoga teachers to develop and fine tune your practice.
